Steam Trains The North Yorkshire Moors railway is a twenty minute walk at the bottom of the Esk Valley in Grosmont. This is where part of the Hogwart's adventure began in Harry Potter!! Explore by the power of steam this stunning journey through the Moors to Pickering. www.nymr.co.uk
Fishing The Yorkshire Esk, Yorkshire's only recognised salmon river is at the bottom of the hill!! From its headwaters, the river winds its way through the valleys and gauges into the most beautiful and prolific countryside to Whitby where it meets the North Sea.
Through major commitment from keen fishermen and conservationists, the river is once again gaining its prolific status. Each year we yield some of the largest sea trout that can be found in the British Isles. Like all spate rivers, it can be mustard! Even if you want to spend your day winding down with a picnic and a bottle of wine, there could not be a more spectacular place to enjoy casting a fly into the unknown!!
Please contact Melissa at the Egton Estate Office if you require a day ticket (01947) 895 466 (subject to availability).

Whitby Whitby, home of Captain James Cook, is arguably one of the country’s finest explorers, is just 6 miles away. Whether it be strolling along the pier with your fish & chips, getting lost on Church street, struggling up the 199 steps, or enjoying the crashing waves on the beach this really is a wonderfully unspoilt sea side town. It beats sitting at your desk where you are probably sitting right now!! www.whitby-uk.com
Pubs & Grub Local dining facilities and country pubs are excellent offering anything from traditional fish & chips to fine local meat produce. Wine lists are excellent.
